$3 MILLION IN HEROIN AND METHAMPHETAMINE HIDDEN IN FORD TRUCK

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Progreso International Bridge intercepted a load of heroin and methamphetamine in Progreso, Texas. The narcotics were discovered hidden within a 1997 Ford F-150 pick-up truck, and have a combined value of approximately $3,040,647.

The seizure took place on Monday, Jan. 6, 2020 when a 25-year-old male United States citizen applied for entry into the United States driving a 1997 Ford F-150 pick-up. The vehicle was referred to secondary for further examination after a primary inspection.

With the aid of a non-intrusive imaging system and canine unit, officers discovered multiple packages hidden within the vehicle. Officers removed the packages, which contained a total of 18.12 pounds of heroin in 7 packages and 131.48 pounds of methamphetamine in 110 packages.

The estimated street value of the narcotics from the seizure is approximately $411,000 in heroin and $2,629,647 in methamphetamine.

Officers seized the narcotics along with the vehicle, arrested the driver and turned him over to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations special agents for further investigation.
