LATINA LADY CONVICTED OF KILLING MAN DURING DWI CRASH, GETS PRISON TIME

On July 8, 2021 a jury found Tamara Juarez, 27, guilty in the killing of 29-year-old Gregory Mobley in Charlotte, NC. Tamara was intoxicated during the hit and run crash that killed Gregory. Tamara was sentenced to several years in prison.

In the early morning hours of June 9, 2017, Gregory was riding his bicycle along Matheson Avenue in Charlotte.

Gregory was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by Tamara. The vehicle sustained a broken windshield and a missing tire during the crash.

Tamara then left the scene. Within minutes, police received a call of a car being driven on North Tryon Street with a damaged windshield and a missing tire.

When police located the vehicle, a Toyota Camry, they found Tamara with the car.

Gregory died hours later at an area hospital. The investigation led to the identification of Tamara as the driver, and she admitted to driving.

Blood tests revealed that Tamara had a blood alcohol concentration of .14.

Prosecutors tried Tamara for felony death by vehicle and felony hit and run causing serious injury or death.

The jury found Tamara guilty of felony death by vehicle and the lesser-included offense of misdemeanor hit and run. A judge sentenced Tamara to 52-75 months in prison.
