2 KILLED IN BAD DUMP TRUCK ACCIDENT

Date:

On August 4, 2021 Darius Sweezy, 26, and Donald Burnette, 66, were killed in a large dump truck collision on Moores Chapel Road Charlotte, NC in the afternoon.

Police responded to a two-vehicle crash and located a Mack dump truck with severe damage in the roadway.

Donald was driving the dump truck on Moores Chapel Road and accidently ran off the road. He overcorrected and crossed the center line, and began sliding sideways.

Darius was driving another dump truck when he drove off the road slightly to his right in an attempt to avoid a collision with the dump truck Donald was driving.

However, Darius was still struck by the Mack truck Donald was driving. The impact of the crash between the trucks spun the Mack truck around and ejected Donald from the truck.

Further, the massive collision caused the engine and transmission to separate from the vehicle. The truck Darius was driving was thrown off the road and down an embankment where it caught on fire.

Darius had serious injuries. Medics responded to the scene and they pronounced Donald and Darius deceased on the scene.

Impairment is not suspected for either driver, but test results are pending.
