A shooting occurred at the Walmart Super Center on South Tryon Street Charlotte, NC on February 8, 2022 at noon. The incident started at the Lowes store which is right beside the Walmart.
A shoplifting suspect allegedly assaulted a security guard and then drove off. The security guard then shot at the fleeing vehicle several times. Even as the vehicle went from the Lowes parking lot to the Walmart parking lot in an attempt to get away.
The security guard shot so many times that the gun clip was emptied. The suspect did get away. It is unclear what may of been stolen or how the security guard was assaulted.
Walmart and Lowes were both temporarily closed due to the shooting. No arrests have been made.
Lowe’s released the below statement:
“We are aware of an incident outside our SW Charlotte store earlier today and are actively assisting the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department with their investigation. Because this is an active investigation, we’re unable to share additional details.”
