Humberto Christian Tovar Zapata, 41, murdered his two children identified as Baleria Tovar, 12, and Matias Tovar, 9, in Miami Lakes, Florida on February 8, 2022. Humberto had a brain bipolar disorder.
Humberto had recently separated from his wife of 12 years. Humberto had Baleria and Matias for a few hours per a custody arrangement.
At 9:00 p.m. Humberto convinced his kids to come outside the house near the dark lake. That is when Humberto pulled out a gun, shooting and killing Baleria and Matias.
Humberto then committed suicide by shooting himself.
When it was time for the kids to be back at their mother’s house, no one showed up.
Humberto’s ex wife attempted to call him multiple times to no avail. The woman then was able to find her children’s location via their cell phone. The childrens’ mother then arrived at the phone location and found Humberto, Baleria, and Matias dead by the lake.
