Date:

Rayshawn Daniels, 33, shot a 12-year-old child on Reagan Drive Charlotte, NC. In June 2022 a jury found Rayshawn guilty.

In September 2018 Rayshawn fired gunshots at a man, but in the process he shot a 12-year-old child who was waiting at his bus stop on Reagan Drive near West Sugar Creek. The child was seriously injured.

A Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office deputy heard the shooting and saw Rayshawn standing over a man, trying to kill him.

Rayshawn jumped into a vehicle with other people to flee, but the deputy pursued the suspect vehicle.

During the pursuit Rayshawn shot at the deputy at least 10 times. Eventually, the suspect vehicle stopped, and its occupants fled. Law enforcement located Rayshawn nearby, and along his run path, deputies discovered a firearm with an extended magazine, as well as a bulletproof vest.

Forensic evidence connected the gun to the shooting and to the defendant.

Rayshawn was arrested. At his 2022 trial the jury found Rayshawn guilty on two counts of attempted first degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill, assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill inflicting serious injury, assault on a law enforcement officer with a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Rayshawn was sentenced to 600-744 months in prison.
