On October 16, 2023 a dead baby was found inside a dumpster at Wally World Mini Mart, a convenience store in Decatur, Alabama. The mother of the baby is identified as Cindy Crow, 36, she was arrested charged with abuse of a corpse.
The police department in Decatur was contacted and asked to check the well being of Cindy who was believed to have recently given birth.
As the investigation progressed, evidence was obtained that confirmed Cindy had been pregnant as early as February 2023 and had recently given birth.
However, her newborn baby was unaccounted for. Information was received that the dumpster on the property of Wally World Mini Mart needed to be searched.
Upon investigators’ arrival and search of the inside of the dumpster, they located a trash bag containing the deceased body of a newborn baby girl, stuffed in the bottom of the dumpster under several other large bags of trash.
The baby’s body was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for an autopsy.
On October 18, 2023 a felony warrant was obtained for the arrest of Cindy for the offense of abuse of a corpse, a Class C Felony.
Cindy was immediately located and taken into custody by investigators at her residence in Decatur. She was booked into the Morgan County Jail where she is to be held in lieu of a $200,000 bond.
