STATE TROOPER GETS 21 YEARS IN PRISON FOR SELLING KILOGRAMS OF COCAINE

Date:

Ex North Carolina State Trooper Freddie Huff, 43, was sentenced to 21 years in prison on November 1, 2023 after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute 5 kilograms or more of cocaine hydrochloride in Davidson County, NC.

Freddie was a state trooper in North Carolina for years. Prior to being a trooper he was an officer with the Lexington Police Department.

Freddie was fired from the Highway Patrol for violating company policy after selling state issued shoes on eBay. Freddie then began to sell cocaine.

Freddie was indicted and arrested in September 2022 on one count of conspiracy to distribute 5 kilograms or more of cocaine hydrochloride, one count of distribution of 500 grams or more of cocaine hydrochloride, and one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense.

This case arises from an investigation by The Department of Homeland Security after they got a tip that latino drug cartels were in North Carolina selling drugs.

Freddie pled guilty to the conspiracy charge on February 9, 2023. The suspect was sentenced to a 252-month term of imprisonment by Chief United States District Judge Catherine C. Eagles.

In addition to prison time, Freddie was ordered to forfeit $500,000 in a money judgment.
