MAN KILLED ON WEST SUGAR CREEK, SUSPECT ARRESTED

A fatal crash occurred on November 8, 2023, on West Sugar Creek Rd. killing Roberto Perez-Martinez, 54. As a result, Gregorio Romero, 44, was charged with Roberto’s death.

At 9:13 p.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle collision with injuries on West Sugar Creek Road.  

The preliminary investigation indicates that Gregorio was driving a Ford van traveling in the opposing travel lanes at a high rate of speed when it struck a Chevrolet van driven by Roberto head on. 

The vans were then disabled in the road with heavy front end damage.

Roberto was taken to Atrium Health Main Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Gregorio remained on scene.

Gregorio was arrested charged with involuntary manslaughter, driving left of center, and no operators license.
