Laken Snelling gave birth to her baby in her dorm room, let the baby die, put the baby’s body in the trash, and then went to class like nothing happened
Laken Snelling, 22, was indicted by a grand jury in March 2026 on manslaughter charges after she was accused of killing her baby at birth in Lexington, Kentucky. Laken is a student on the stunt team at The University of Kentucky, she also was a beauty queen winning various pageants.
In August 2025 Laken was pregnant and gave birth in her off campus apartment. Around 5 a.m. she gave birth to a baby boy in her bathroom on the floor.
Her roommates were sleep, but they reported hearing noises. The baby ejected out of Laken’s private areas, the baby went on the floor. At some point the baby died or was killed by Laken.
Laken reported going to sleep on top of the baby and then waking up an hour later. Laken wrapped her dead baby in a towel and placed the baby inside a trash bag.
Laken then put the baby in a closet. Laken left the apartment to go to class like nothing occurred. Laken’s roommates saw blood on the bathroom floor and called police. Cops arrived and found the dead baby in the closet.
Court records show Laken admitted to giving birth and then attempting to clean up evidence before placing the infant into the trash bag.
In August 2025 Laken was arrested charged with abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, and concealing the birth of an infant. In March 2026 Laken’s charges were upgraded to manslaughter.
Laken dropped out of The University of Kentucky after her arrest.
