Anubiya Zaire Trottie, 28, was arrested on April 9, 2026 accused of stealing from the ABC liquor store on North Tryon Street Charlotte, NC.
The ABC stores in rough parts of town usually have the Hennessy and other high value liquors locked up in the back or behind the counter so people can’t steal them. But if you go to ABC stores in South Park or rich areas of town, nothing is locked up, everything is out in the open because there are not many thefts.
Anubiya is accused of entering the ABC liquor store on North Tryon which is a high crime area.
Anubiya is accused of taking a entire bottle of Espolon Reposado Tequila and walking out the store without paying, all while wearing her hair bonnet.
The suspect was arrested charged with larceny. She took a mugshot with her hair bonnet on. The Mecklenburg County Jail now has a ridiculous policy that allows inmates to wear hats and hair coverings if it is part of their religion due to the First Amendment of Freedom of Religion.
The jail was sued by a muslim woman after she was forced to take a mugshot without her hijab hair covering.
