Prominent attorney Janet Ward Black died this week from a crippling disease
Janet Ward Black, 66, died on November 2, 2025 in Greensboro, NC. Janet was the owner of Ward Black Law. In May 2025 Janet was diagnosed with ALS, which led to her death. Janet was beautiful and even won the Miss North Carolina competition in 1980.

Janet graduated from Davidson College in 1982 and then went on to Duke Law School. She became an attorney and then founded her own practice Ward Black Law.
She served as president of the North Carolina Bar Association and North Carolina Bar Foundation from 2007 to 2008. Janet won the Thurgood Marshall Award in 2021.
