On April 20, 2020 it was announced that an employee at the popular Whole Foods grocery store in uptown Charlotte recently tested positive for the Coronavirus. Multiple Whole Foods employees in Washington D.C. have also tested positive for the Coronavirus.
In a statement Whole Foods said:
“The safety of our Team Members and customers is our top priority and we are diligently following all guidance from local health and food safety authorities. We’ve been working closely with our store Team Members, and are supporting the diagnosed Team Member, who is in quarantine.”
The Charlotte employee works at the Whole Foods on East Stonewall Street Charlotte, NC. Whole Foods says their stores are continuing to implement safety measures to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus including:
Stores are operating under social distancing and crowd control measures. We have installed plexiglass barriers at check out and are requiring temperature checks and face masks for anyone working in our stores and facilities.
We have implemented enhanced daily cleanliness and disinfection protocols across all stores and facilities, on top of our standard stringent protocols.
We are closing stores up to two hours early to give our Team Members more time to restock shelves, sanitize our stores, and rest in preparation for the next day. We have implemented enhanced daily cleanliness and sanitation protocols across all stores and facilities, on top of our standard stringent protocols.
We have implemented crowd control measures that limit the capacity of customers based on store size and installed spacing guidelines for lines throughout the store, including outside of the store, at the register and in departments such as Meat and Seafood.
All team members placed into quarantine or diagnosed with COVID-19 will receive up to an additional two weeks of paid time off, as announced by our parent company, Amazon.
On April 17, 2020 an employee at the CVS Pharmacy on Kendall Drive Charlotte, NC also tested positive for COVID-19.
Seven Amazon employees in Charlotte have tested positive for COVID-19.
Four Wells Fargo employees in Charlotte have also been infected with the Coronavirus.
A Target employee was diagnosed with the Coronavirus too.
Grocery store Harris Teeter had an employee infected with the Coronavirus.
