Shane purchased his winning $1 million lottery ticket for just $10 at the Quick Trip gas station on Monroe Road Matthews, NC which is only footsteps from Charlotte. Shane claimed his $1 million on April 14, 2021 at lottery headquarters in Raleigh, NC.
Sitting in his car outside the Quik Trip, he decided to scratch his ticket and then discovered that he won!! Shane says he started getting goosebumps and couldn’t drive for about 15 minutes after that.
Shane had the choice of taking the $1 million as an annuity of 20 payments of $50,000 a year or a lump sum of $600,000. Shane opted for the lump sum and took home $424,503 after required state and federal tax with-holdings.
