Tammy Moffett, 53, was arrested on May 27, 2021 in connection with the murder of 4-year-old Mejelic Sandez Young in Charlotte, NC. Tammy is related to Malikah Bennett-Moffett, 31. Malikah is accused of murdering her daughter Mejelic and then burying her in the ground.
Malikah was arrested on May 21, 2021 and charged with murdering Mejelic. The 4-year-old girl was missing since September 2020. All the while, Malikah was posting on social media and acting as if she didn’t know where Mejelic was.
But, family members and friends grew ever more suspicious, so they issued their concerns to police. After search warrants were processed, authorities went to a home on Braden Drive Charlotte, NC and used cadaver dogs to find any scent of dead bodies.
On the same day Mejelic’s dead body was found, her mother Malikah was arrested and charged with murder, felony child abuse, inflicting physical injury, and felony concealing a death.
Several days later on May 27th Tammy was arrested and charged with concealing a death and accessory after the fact. It is not known at the moment how the two suspects are related.
Malikah split custody over Mejelic with the child’s father. Mejelic’s father has been cleared of any wrong doing. The father raised several concerns to authorities over the disappearance of Mejelic before she was found dead.
