Julianne Wilson, 36, pled no contest to killing latino church Pastor Sylvia Morales, 54, in Charlotte, NC. Julianne was speeding in the rain when her vehicle crashed into Pastor Morales, killing her. Pastor Morales was the Senior pastor at Iglesia Sion Church, a latino mega church in Charlotte, NC.
The crash occurred on October 10, 2018. Julianne was speeding in a brand new Dodge Charger on her way to work when she crossed the center median on Idlewild Rd. and ran into Pastor Morales head on who was in a white Buick vehicle.
The head on collision occurred when the roads were extremely wet from rain. The accident killed Pastor Morales instantly. The pastor was on the phone with one of her church members when the crash happened. The church member heard the pastor scream on impact, and the phone hung up.
That church member was the last person to talk with the pastor. Pictures from the scene show Pastor Morale’s mangled white vehicle. The wreck knocked Julianne unconscious, she was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries. Julianne spent over a month in the hospital. She was released from the hospital and arrested, charged with involuntary manslaughter and reckless driving.
Julianne hired a power house attorney and eventually got a no jail time sentence.
Julianne pled no contest in November 2019 to misdemeanor death by vehicle.
Julianne was sentenced to 60 days in the Mecklenburg County Jail; that sentence was suspended pending her successful completion of 24 months of supervised probation. As one of the conditions of her probation, Julianne was ordered to perform community service at the Pastor’s church Iglesia Sion Church.
Pastor Morales leaves behind 2 adult children, a husband Jonas Morales, several grand children and a loving church family.
Sources say Jonas Morales has since remarried a former church member.
