VIDEO: FREIGHT TRAIN HITS TRUCK NEAR AIRPORT IN CHARLOTTE

A tractor trailer 18-wheeler truck was hit by a freight train on March 5, 2024 on Old Dowd Rd. Charlotte, NC.

The crash was near the Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The truck was passing the train tracks and became stuck on the tracks. 

The driver of the truck then heard a train coming, and exited the truck. The train saw the truck stuck and tried to apply brakes while also honking the train horn, but the powerful freight train could not stop in time and it collided with the truck. 

The collision caused a fire on the tracks. Emergency officials were called to the scene and handled the matter. There are no reported injuries. The truck was hauling an oversized load of steel beams.

This section of Old Dowd Rd. will be closed until further notice. There are no HAZMAT spills or concerns.
