On January 24, 2024 a fight between two city council members turned physical. Riviera Beach City Council members Doug Lawson and Tradrick McCoy got into a fight after a city hall meeting in Riviera Beach, FL.
It all started at a council meeting when Tradrick raised concerns about fecal matter being in the city’s water supply. But Doug interrupted Tradrick saying that there were not enough council members present to vote about the issue.
Tradrick kept talking and a bitter exchange began. After the meeting Tradrick approached Doug in the hallway and expressed that Doug disrespected him.
Tradrick and Doug began to debate and argue. Tradrick is then seen pushing Doug in the face near the eye area.
Doug then took his glasses off and threw his personal items on a desk ready to fight. Doug begins advancing towards Tradrick like a boxing match, but other officials and security hold Doug back.
The scuffle moves off camera and Doug is able to grab Tradrick and jack him up. The two men are then separated.
Doug went to the hospital the next day and was diagnosed with a lacerated cornea. Both men decided not to press charges on each other.
