At 9:00 p.m., 2 uniformed patrol officers initiated a traffic stop on a white four door sedan. The suspect’s vehicle initially began to accelerate away but stopped suddenly and began firing shots from a fully automatic gun before officers could even exit the police vehicle. The suspect fired at officers without warning. The car then sped away from cops. One officer returned fire, but missed the suspect. One of the cops was shot twice in the head. Video shows a cop being killed in a street stabbing, the officer helplessly choked on his own blood.
Officers attempted to follow the suspect’s vehicle for approximately 200 yards but lost sight of the vehicle and called off the chase.
Both officers sustained cuts and scratches from glass fragments caused by the suspect’s rounds striking the police vehicle windshield.
