SUSPECT CHARGED IN HEAD ON WRECK THAT KILLED MAN

Alan Melgar, 26, was arrested on December 26, 2024 following his release from the hospital in a crash that killed Ever Elizand Castillo Guardado, 22, in Charlotte, NC.

The crash was on October 16, 2024 at 2:50 a.m. on Archdale Drive. Mr. Guardado was a passenger in a Toyota Tacoma truck, Alan was driving the truck.

Alan veered off the road and struck a tree head on. Passerbys saw the crash and called 911. Authorities arrived and took Mr. Guardado and Alan to Atrium Health Hospital main via ambulance. Shortly after arrival, Mr. Guardado was pronounced deceased. Alan was listed in critical condition for months. Speed and alcohol impairment are suspected to be contributing factors of this crash. 

Alan was released from the hospital on December 26, 2024 and then arrested charged with felony death by vehicle.
