SUSPECT ARRESTED IN RECENT UPTOWN MURDER

Hamza Bratton, 29, was arrested on October 25, 2021 and charged with the murder of 41-year-old Corey White.

Corey was shot and killed on West Carson Boulevard in the uptown of Charlotte, NC on October 24, 2021.

The shooting was in the parking lot of a business at 2:17 a.m. An altercation erupted between Corey and a group of people. Several shots were fired and Corey was shot.

Off-duty officers heard the shooting and located Corey with a gunshot wound. Medic also responded to the scene and transported Corey to a local hospital.

On the same day of the shooting, at 6:01 a.m., Corey succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff.

 A murder warrant was issued for Hamza’s arrest. On October 25, 2021, detectives with the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team worked in conjunction with the United States Secret Service to locate and arrest Hamza, he is charged with murder.
