On June 7, 2024 Marques McBride, 24, pled guilty to the second degree murder of his mother Santavius McBride, 42, in Charlotte, NC. Santavius was a mother to 4 children.
Santavius was murdered on July 7, 2023 at her home on Foxford Place in Charlotte. Marques lived with his mother Santavius.
After multiple discussions about Marques’s lack of employment, Santavius confronted her son again about getting a job.
Marques then went berserk and murdered his mom by shooting her inside her home. at noon. Marques then fled.
One of her sons arrived home and found Santavius dead from the shooting.
Later that night, Marques turned himself in to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department and confessed to killing his mother.
In June 2024 Marques plead guilty to murder. Judge Eady-Williams sentenced him to 300–372 months in prison.
