A teacher was missing and then was found dead during the snow storm in a field
Rebecca Rauber, 28, is the missing school teacher that was found in the snow within a wooded area during Winter Storm Fern in Kansas. She went missing on January 23, 2026. Rebecca was a 2nd grade teacher at Riverside Elementary School.

Rauber was last seen leaving a popular bar in Emporia around 11:30 p.m. on January 23rd. She left her phone, keys, jacket and purse. A snow storm began known as Winter Storm Fern dumping 18 inches of snow on the area.
She walked to a random field and passed out. The snow covered her body. Officers began searching for Rauber with wind chills nearing -15 degrees. Rauber was found dead 2 days later on Jan. 25th her body was frozen to the touch.
Rauber was found dead in a wooded area. She died of hypothermia.
