RECENT HIGH SCHOOL GRADS KILLED IN FIERY WRECK

Robert Walker and Henry Melvin were killed in a fiery car crash on Colville Road Charlotte, NC, the two are recent graduates of Myers Park High School. On Sunday August 1st, 2021 at 2:27 a.m., officers responded to a serious injury crash involving a vehicle striking a tree and catching on fire. 4 people were in the vehicle.

The driver of a Mercedes Benz car was traveling at a high rate of speed. The Benz lost control and struck the curb. It then exited the curve and ran off the road. The car then struck a set of brick steps and then a tree before catching on fire.

Officers located a severely damaged and burning Mercedes Benz and its four injured occupants. Henry Melvin and Robert Walker were pronounced deceased on scene by medic.

The other 2 passengers were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Excessive speed appears to be a factor for the driver. Impairment test results are pending. There were no known witnesses to the crash. 

Robert loved automobiles. Henry participated in the Myers Park football program.
