POSTAL SERVICE EMPLOYEE ARRESTED FOR MAIL THEFT, ACCUSED OF STEALING 9MM GUN

A United States Postal Service employee identified as Demarkis Houston, 30, was arrested on April 20, 2023 accused of stealing and destroying mail in Charlotte, NC.

According to allegations in the indictment, on August 31, 2022, Demarkis is accused of unlawfully opening and destroying mail while he was on duty delivering mail.

The indictment also alleges that on September 19, 2022, Demarkis removed a 9mm gun from the mail. The gun was on the way to a customer.

Demarkis was arrested after an internal investigation. He appeared in federal court on mail theft and related charges on April 21, 2023.

Demarkis is charged with mail destruction, theft of mail by a Postal Service employee, and possession of a stolen firearm.
