On September 1, 2023 murder charges were dismissed for Kishawn Lee-Grier, 19, and Treyvon Young, 19. The two men were accused of murdering Deandre Hagler, 21. The victim was shot and killed in January 2023 in Charlotte, NC.
The District Attorney’s Office decided to drop the murder charges on Kishawn and Treyvon due to inefficient evidence. Masks and gloves were likely used when Deandre was murdered at 10:30 a.m. on January 13, 2023.
Although the homicide was likely caught on video, masks and gloves prevent someone from being positively identified, prosecutors know this and murder charges usually don’t stick if someone is covered with lack of shell casings.
Hours later Treyvon was arrested and charged with Deandre’s murder. The investigation would later lead to the arrest of Kishawn on February 9th.
