MURDER CHARGE DROPPED ON MAN AFTER TEEN GIRL KILLED IN WEST CHARLOTTE

Date:

Andy Garcia, 20, was arrested, accused of murdering Alysha Johnson, 17, in Charlotte, NC. But prosecutors with the Meckenburg County District Attorney’s Office dropped murder charges against Andy.

Alysha Johnson and Andy Garcia

Alysha was shot and killed on June 17, 2019 at the intersection of Beatties Ford Road and LaSalle Street. Three suspects were detained nearby. Juan Zamora, Andy Garcia, and a 15-year-old male juvenile were arrested charged with Alysha’s murder.

But a significant time after the murder, prosecutors dropped the murder charge on Andy. The district attorney’s office dismissed the charge without leave.

The without leave specification signifies that prosecutors will not retry the case against Andy. The murder charge against Juan is still pending.

Homicide charges on Darius Chambers were dropped by prosecutors, Darius was accused of murdering Ryan Autry.

Prosecutors also dismissed 2 murder charges after 50-year-old Michael Workman was killed in Charlotte
