Krystal Walton, 32, was murdered at an Indianapolis, Indiana daycare on September 16, 2022. Orlando Mitchell, 33, has been charged with the murder. Krystal even had a restraining order against Orlando. Krystal and Orlando had a 1-year-old son together. Krystal also had a 7-year-old daughter from another relationship.
At 7:30 a.m. Krystal was dropping off her children at daycare when Orlando approached her in the parking lot and allegedly shot her multiple times in front of her kids. Krystal died on the scene. The suspect then fled the scene. Police found Orlando 3 hours later in a vehicle. Authorities say Orlando was holding a rifle, Orlando was ordered by responding officers to drop the gun. Police say Orlando did not drop the gun, and as a result police shot him.Orlando was then taken to the hospital for emergency treatment. Orlando was later released from the hospital and arrested. Orlando is charged with murder, invasion of privacy, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a domestic batterer.
Orlando has a history of domestic violence against Krystal.
In August 2022 Krystal told police that she received a text message from Orlando Mitchell that read,
“U gotta learn to be reasonable with me about my son. If u wanna keep playing, i promise on my life i won’t stop until u lose everything! That house, job, and your child. So it up to u!!”
Orlando was also accused of strangling Krystal in the past.
