46-year-old Henrietta Rogers was arrested on February 10, 2022 charged with murdering her 10-year-old daughter Jada Clay in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
On Feb. 10, 2022 Henrietta wanted to braid Jada’s hair inside their home. But Jada refused, stating that she did not want braids.
Henrietta then allegedly got mad and fought her daughter in the bathroom. Jada’s 15-year-old sister heard the commotion and saw Jada on the bathroom floor. Jada’s sister then helped her up to get ready for school, but Jada said she did not want to go to school.
Jada’s sister then left for school, leaving Jada alone with Henrietta. After the school day, Jada’s sister came back home and found Jada dead on the floor cold to the touch. Jada had been dead for a couple of hours.
Henrietta was at a park crying and asking for help, someone called the police to the park to help her. When police arrived at the park, they were able to identify her as the mother of Jada.
During the investigation Henrietta was eventually arrested and charged with first degree reckless homicide in Jada’s death.
An autopsy performed by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office determined Jada suffered bruising and deep hemorrhaging to her upper body and neck, as well as her eyes. A preliminary cause of death was asphyxia.
