MOLD FOUND IN DRINKING FOUNTAIN NOZZLES AT SOUTHWEST MIDDLE SCHOOL

On March 28, 2024 Southwest Middle School scored an 84.50 B in a health safety inspection. The school is located at 13624 Steele Creek Road Charlotte, NC. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.

For starters the ceiling lights were out in the 7th grade girls restroom and 8th grade girls restroom.

The water fountains throughout the school building had black build-up inside the drinking nozzles and in the area surrounding the drinking nozzles. 

There was tissue stuck to the ceiling and walls in multiple restrooms throughout the school building. General cleaning was needed in the restrooms.

Toilets and urinals were out of order in the girls restroom near the media center and the 6th grade boys restroom.

A spring loaded faucet knob was missing to the hand sink in multiple boys and girls restrooms. 

Several restrooms did not have soap, paper towels, or a hand drinking device.

There were missing ceiling tiles by the boys locker room in the gym. The inspector observed walls heavily damaged, cracking, peeling, and in need of repair in several restrooms.

A pile of dirty clothes were in the boys locker room, there was general cleaning needed in the girls and boys locker room. 

 Litter and debris were under trailer mobile units near the gym.
