The suspect was homeless and is accused of stabbing a man to near death on city bus
57-year-old James Bennett was arrested on November 6, 2025 accused of stabbing a victim on a CATS bus (Charlotte Area Transportation System) on North Tryon Street Charlotte, NC. James was homeless. Many homeless people in Charlotte either end up dead or arrested.

On November 6th James got on the bus and allegedly started following the male victim man to the front and back of the bus. James allegedly had an open container of liquor in his hand also.
The suspect then allegedly stabbed the victim in the chest on the bus. The stabbing is reminiscent of when Iryna Zarutska was stabbed to death on a Charlotte CATS light rail train, watch the full video here.

The victim began bleeding profusely, the suspect stabbed him multiple times. The suspect ran off the bus. First responders treated the victim with life threatening injuries and took him to the hospital, where he was taken into surgery.
James was arrested later that night charged with attempted first degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
