MAN SOLD GLOCK SWITCHES IN CHARLOTTE

Date:

On December 14, 2022 Desmon Moore, 24, was sentenced to 37 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release on multiple firearms offenses in Charlotte, NC.

According to filed court documents and court proceedings, between 2021 and March 2022, Desmon engaged in the manufacturing and sale of firearms without a license in Charlotte.

ATF agents investigating Desmon determined that he illegally sold conversion devices commonly known as “Glock switches” which enable a semi-automatic handgun to function as an automatic.

Desmon also engaged in the sale of multiple firearms and privately made firearms or ghost guns, some of which had been converted into machine guns using the illegal conversion devices.

Federal law prohibits the possession of machine guns.

According to court records, two undercover ATF agents also attended a class Desmon taught on how to build privately made firearms and install Glock switches. Desmond was arrested by federal agents in April 2022.

On July 26, 2022, Desmon pleaded guilty to multiple firearms offenses, including dealing and manufacturing firearms without a license, and possession and transfer of machine guns.

Desmon is currently in federal custody and will be transferred to the custody of the federal Bureau of Prisons.
