On August 29, 2021 a basketball game erupted in gunfire, resulting in a man being shot at approximately 6:15 pm. The shooting was during a basketball game at North Mecklenburg Park, 16131 Old Statesville Road Huntersville, NC.
Several people were playing a heated and intense basketball game with a lot trash talk. A verbal altercation ensued between individuals playing in the basketball game. During the altercation, shots were fired and one male victim was struck.
Everyone ran after the shooting.
Officers located the male suffering from a single gunshot wound. The victim was subsequently transported to the hospital in critical condition and is currently stable.
The suspect is described as a light skin black male with dreads in a pony tail, tattoos on both arms, 5’6” to 5’10”, slim build, and in his 20s or 30s of age. No arrests have been made.
