The primarily latino based Midnight Rodeo club had a homicide during a flea market event on Cinco De Mayo
Shawn Powell, 51, was shot and killed in a violent murder at the Midnight Rodeo club on May 5, 2024 the Cinco De Mayo holiday. Cinco De Mayo is a latino based holiday where heavy drinking and parties are usually involved.
Shawn was killed around 6 p.m. at the Midnight Rodeo during a flea market. During the daytime on weekends the Midnight Rodeo operates as a open air flea market, and during the night it operates as a night club.
Shawn was shot at the club by an unknown suspect. Crowds of people heard the shots fired and began running. Shawn died on the scene.
