Bryan Mitchell, 37, has been arrested and charged with the murder of 53-year-old Rodney Cunningham at the Lancaster Motor Speedway in Lancaster, SC. Rodney was shot and killed on August 27, 2022.
The homicide occurred during the last race of the night around 10:30 p.m. Rodney was shot. 911 emergency EMS rendered aid and took the victim to the Medical University of South Carolina-Lancaster Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.
An autopsy will be scheduled by the Lancaster County Coroner.
A large crowd was on hand for the night’s races. No one else was injured during the incident.
The suspect Bryan was arrested on August 28, 2022 in a wooded area of South Carolina, he is charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.
