A man was shot and killed at a Walmart by police in Charlotte, NC. The deadly shooting was at the Walmart on 9101 Albemarle Rd on November 5, 2021.
Additionally, the security guard stated that the armed man threatened to shoot the officers if they responded. As officers approached the man, they allegedly perceived a lethal threat and fired their service weapons, for whatever reason, we do not know.
Medics arrived and transported the man to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased from injuries he sustained in the Walmart shooting. A firearm was recovered at the scene.
No officers were injured in this incident.
The SBI will be the primary investigative agency for the officer involved shooting. Representatives with the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Homicide Prosecution Team responded to the scene to assist.
As is standard procedure with any officer involved shooting, the Internal Affairs Bureau will conduct a separate but parallel investigation to determine whether police policies and procedures were adhered to during the deadly shooting.
The officer will be placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard policy whenever an officer shoots someone.
