In September 2024 Travonte House, 32, was sentenced to life in prison after a jury found him guilty for murdering 31-year-old Derrick Chambers in Charlotte, NC. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.

Derrick was shot and killed in a wild homicide on April 6, 2019 on Barrington Drive. Derrick was killed in a robbery style shooting at apartments. Travonte walked through the back door and robbed Derrick and another man before shooting both of them.

Travonte was arrested months later charged with murder. 

At his 2024 trial the jury found Travonte guilty of first degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon. 

The judge sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the first degree murder charge and 19-32 months in prison for the possession of a firearm by a convicted felon charge. That sentence will run concurrently with the life sentence.
