Eric Henderson, 21, was killed in a head on collision on December 26, 2022 in Cumberland County, NC on U.S. Highway 13. A Cumberland County Sheriff’s Deputy was involved. Eric was currently on the basketball team at Livingstone College.
Around 1 a.m. Eric was on the way back to college after visiting family for the Christmas holiday. Eric was driving a black sedan on U.S. Highway 13. And at some point, Eric veered past the double yellow line into oncoming traffic and hit a pickup truck head on that was being driven by an off duty Cumberland Count Sheriff’s Deputy.
The deputy had 2 of his kids in the truck. The truck then careened off the road and into the woods after impact. Eric’s vehicle was thrown into the woods after the collision.
Sadly Eric died on the scene. The deputy and his children were taken to the hospital and are expected to be okay. Authorities say speed was a factor and that Eric may of been fatigued.
Eric was from Virginia Beach, Va. Eric was a sophomore and also an honor student at Livingstone College.
