On September 4, 2022 at 4:21 A.M., Cristina Garcia, 37, was murdered in Hazelwood, MO. Her husband Gregory Smith, 40, is charged with her murder.
Gregory is accused of beating and stomping Cristina during a dispute. Gregory is then accused of using a knife to kill his wife, all while the couple’s 2 young children were home and watched in horror. Cristina was stabbed to death.
Authorities say Gregory doused the home in gasoline while the two minor children remained inside, along with Cristina’s dead bleeding body. The home was set on fire and Gregory left.
Still inside the home, one of the children called 911 to report that his mother was dead and the house was on fire.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers located two children and a dead adult female identified as Cristina.
The fire was put out by firefighters and the children were transported to an area hospital for examination. The investigation revealed this incident was a result of domestic violence.
On September 5, 2022 Gregory was arrested and charged with first degree murder, armed criminal action, and endangering the welfare of a child.
