HOME BURGLARY SUSPECTS ARRESTED, ANKLE MONITOR GOT THEM CAUGHT

Date:

Robert Curd, 22, and Jameil Massey, 18, broke into several homes in Charlotte, NC. One of the suspects was on probation during the commission of the crimes, which made it easy for authorities to make an arrest.

On Feb. 11 officers were investigating two separate residential breaking and enterings that were reported on Mt. Vernon Avenue and Berkely Avenue, in the Dilworth Neighborhood. While patrol officers were on scene, they learned that one of the suspects was observed by a victim who came home and found the suspect inside her residence. Officers immediately gathered that information and broadcast the description to officers circulating the area.

During this time frame, members from the Real Time Crime Center notified officers they had a subject on Electronic Monitoring that was in close proximity to both locations. That subject on Electronic Monitoring was currently at a third residence on Isleworth Avenue.

Members from the K9 Unit arrived on Isleworth and observed a subject matching the description of the two earlier break-ins climbing over the fence in the backyard and fleeing the scene on foot. While a perimeter was being established, a second suspect exited the back door of the residence and taken into custody without further incident. This suspect, who was later identified as Robery Curd, was on Electronic Monitoring.

Responding detectives observed the fleeing suspect cross Dilworth Road West behind their vehicle and entered Latta Park. Detectives made contact with that suspect near the entrance to the park. While speaking with the suspect, they noticed his pants were ripped from climbing a fence post while he was fleeing from K9 officers.

The suspects were positively identified and both Robert and Jameil were each charged with three counts of Breaking and Entering, three counts of Conspiracy to Commit Breaking and Entering, and Felony Larceny after B&E.
