FOSTER MOTHER CHARGED AFTER HER BABY DIES IN HOT CAR

Date:

Dawn Broecke, 42, has been charged in connection with her 12-month-old foster son’s death after she left him in a hot car for hours while she was at work, officials say. The baby died from hypothermia due to environmental exposure.

On August 29, 2019 Dawn left the young boy in a hot car for hours while she was at work. The baby was found around 5 p.m. inside a car at the Mcmullen Creek Shopping Center near Pineville Matthews Road, Pineville NC.

Detectives checked surveillance video at the shopping center and Dawn has since been charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Dawn worked at the shopping center and says she didn’t realize she left her baby in the car until she got off work.

When Dawn found her son in the vehicle around 5 p.m. on August 29, she frantically called 911 for help.
Emergency officials arrived and tried to save the boy rushing him to Atrium Pineville, but the young fella died.

Temperatures were in the 80’s on the day the baby was found in the car.

The Department of Social Services is investigating this case.
