A cop killed her girlfriend giving the excuse that she thought the victim was an intruder, they were planning a wedding scheduled to be in Mexico
Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy Aimee Hidalgo, 28, was arrested in March 2026 accused of killing her girlfriend and fiancee Brittany Shaw, 35, in Tustin, CA. Brittany also worked for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, but as a social worker. Deputy Aimee is charged with voluntary manslaughter.
Brittany Shaw

The two women were in a romantic relationship and living together at apartments. The women had been in contentious arguments up to the murder, even though they were planing a wedding planned to be in Mexico.
On August 8, 2025 Brittany left the apartment at 5 a.m. to walk their dog. When Brittany came back to the apartment, Aimee thought that Brittany was an intruder and shot her 9 times.
Some of the bullets went to Brittany’s head. She was shot at close range. Deputy Hidalgo called 911. The women were use to giving each other mouth kisses, so Deputy Hidalgo gave Brittany mouth to mouth CPR in an effort to resuscitate her, but those efforts were unsuccessful, and Brittany was pronounced dead.
Deputy Hidalgo was put on administrative leave. It was not until March 2026 that prosecutors decided to charge Hidalgo.
Aimee Hidalgo turned herself into Tustin police in March 2026, she was charged with one felony count of voluntary manslaughter and one felony enhancement of personal use of a firearm.
