On Dec. 17, 2025 Lexington Police Department Officer Kaitlin Crook was murdered in a triple shooting involving her boyfriend and husband in Lexington, NC. Zachary Rogers is a Lexington Firefighter and the husband of Officer Kaitlin. Joshua Moore is Officer Kaitlin’s boyfriend. All 3 people were shot.
At 9 pm Officer Kaitlin was on a date with her boyfriend Joshua. Officer Kaitlin’s husband Zachary arrived on scene and a fight began between all 3 parties. Guns were drawn and Kaitlin, Joshua, and Zachary were all shot.
Officer Kaitlin died on scene. Zachary and Joshua survived and are being treated at the hospital. It is unknown who shot who, no arrests have been made yet.
Zachary and his wife Kaitlin were both off duty from their government jobs at the time of the murder and triple shooting.
Lexington Police Chief Robby Rummage has asked the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI) to lead the investigation.
