Jason Karels, 35, is charged with murdering his 3 children Bryant, 5, Cassidy, 3, and Gideon, 2, on June 13, 2022 in Round Lake Beach, Illinois. Jason was in a bitter divorce with his wife Debra.
The kids were spending the weekend with Jason per a custody agreement. Jason is accused of drowning the kids in a bathtub in his home. All the children died on the scene.
Jason’s wife was suppose to get the kids back that day, but she could not get in touch with Jason. Debra then reached out to police and told them to go by Jason’s house for a wellness check.
Police arrived and found the children dead. Jason had fled the scene in a car. Police were able to locate Jason driving on a highway, a traffic stop was initiated, but Jason sped away.
Jason eventually crashed the car and he was arrested on 3 counts of first degree murder.
