Abdoulaye Boureima, 44, was arrested in Charlotte, NC on March 10, 2026 accused of beating his own teen son for something as simple as the kid not changing his last name to that of his father.

The teenager was dropped off by his mother to see his dad Abdoulaye at Abdoulaye’s house, as they had already got a divorce or separation. Abdoulaye took his son in a room and told him to get his last name changed to Abdoulaye’s last name.
The teenager refused and Abdoulaye got angry. Abdoulaye took off his shirt and told his son that “we are going to handle this like men” Click here to see more father son fights.
Abdoulaye is accused of wrestling with his son and throwing him to the ground. Court documents say Abdoulaye punched the kid in the face and neck area.
Abdoulaye is then accused of breaking a plastic hanger and hitting his son with it. Abdoulaye is also accused of using an extension cord to beat his son. The son quickly ran out of the room. See other child custody disputes here.
The teen’s mom came back to pick up her son after a few hours and saw that the teen had marks on his face, neck, and body. The mom asked what happened and the son told her that his father Abdoulaye beat on him for not changing his last name to his.
The mother was irate and took her son to Novant Hospital for medical care. Police were notified. Abdoulaye was arrested charged with child abuse and false imprisonment.
