Cornelius Butler, 28, and Lashaundra Jackson, 35, were arrested in connection to the homicide of Corey Barnard, 33, in Charlotte, NC. The suspects were arrested on July 15, 2026.
On July 14, 2026 Corey was shot and killed on Eastcrest Drive at apartments. Corey was on the side of the apartment building when he was shot dead.
Shots were heard and residents called 911. Cops just off of weak witness testimony assumed that Cornelius and his girlfriend Lashaundra were suspects, so cops unlawfully called out to them on a police car intercom to come out of their apartment.
Cops had no warrant or evidence that the suspects committed any crime. The suspects came out of the apartment and cops went through their cell phones and searched their apartment.
Just because Cornelius had pictures of a gun in the phone, cops arrested him charging him with murder. Lashaundra was arrested charged with accessory after the fact to murder.
Corey had past jobs at Chipotle and Food Lion. His mom is heart broken about the death of her son, she told him happy birthday every year. They lived in a nice house in Mint Hill.
