DENNY’S RESTAURANT HAD INSECTS IN DINING AREA AND DIRTY EQUIPMENT

Date:

The Denny’s restaurant located at 4541 Sunset Road Charlotte, NC earned a terrible score of 87 during an inspection on March 11, 2020.

The inspection discovered fruit flies all throughout the kitchen and dining area. State law mandates that restaurant premises should be free of insects, rodents, and other pests.

Fish, pico de gallo, and chicken breast were out of temperature above 41F in the grill drawer. The food had to be discarded, as it is unsafe for cold uncooked food to be out of temperature. There were to-go containers and napkins stored on the floor in the dry storage room.

The dish machine was not dispensing sanitizer and there were torn gaskets in most of the reach-in units. The inside and outside of all equipment was dirty and in need of deep cleaning.

There was cleaning needed along the walls where splash and discoloration was occurring. The grill drawers had standing water inside of them and could barely open.

There were no paper towels at the hand sink near the drink station. Denny’s had waffle mix, bacon tots, and mash potatoes in the reach in cooler that were uncovered.

The inspector observed wet stacking of silver pans on the dish rack. When dishes are stacked wet a threat of mold, mildew, and bacteria may arise.
