Rico Williams, 26, was arrested on June 4, 2023 accused of punching a 1-year-old baby in the face. The baby was assaulted at the intersection of West Summit Ave and South Tryon St Charlotte, NC in uptown.
Shortly after 11:41 a.m., officers responded to an assault on a child call. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a woman who reported that her 1-year-old baby had just been punched in the face by an unknown man. Officers were quickly able to arrest Rico after identifying him as the suspect due to the assistance of bystanders and witnesses.
Rico was charged with assault on a child under 12.The 1-year-old victim was transported to Levine Children’s hospital where the child was treated and released. It is unknown why the baby was attacked. A teenage victim was shot on the same day in Charlotte.
