22-year-old Zaki Davis is charged with murdering a 7-month-old baby identified as Israel Williams in Charlotte, NC. Zaki was arrested on December 22, 2021.
Shortly before 10:00 p.m., on December 17, 2021, officers responded to an assist medic call at Corbett Square Lane. A baby was located unconscious and unresponsive. Medic and the Charlotte Fire Department also responded and started life saving measures before transporting the baby to Atrium Main Hospital.
Information Officers developed on scene prompted them to call the assistance of both Homicide Unit detectives and the Youth Crime Unit detectives. These two units responded and conducted a joint investigation.
While at the hospital, the baby was showing signs of life.
On December 19, 2021, medical staff pronounced the baby deceased after the child’s health took a turn for the worse. Homicide detectives then transitioned back into the investigation.
The child was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office, who officially ruled the baby’s death a homicide. Murder warrants were issued for Zaki, who is the boyfriend of the baby’s mother.
On December 22, 2021, detectives arrested Zaki. He is charged with 1st degree murder.
