ARREST MADE AFTER MILITARY VETERAN MURDERED ON REA ROAD

On July 17, 2024 Eric Watson, 41, was arrested accused of murdering 36-year-old Derrick Byas. The homicide was in Charlotte, NC but Eric was arrested in South Carolina.

Derrick was shot and killed on July 8, 2024 while in a vehicle on Rea Road.

Derrick was on the side of the road near the woods. Around 7 a.m. a passing motorist saw Derrick dead in the car. Emergency crews were called.

The victim was pronounced deceased on scene.

Eric was located and arrested in South Carolina, he has been charged with murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon. Charlotte Alerts is on Instagram now.

Derrick was formerly in the United States military.
